Spandex

DO NOT GO FURTHER IF YOU DO NOT LIKE COMIC BOOK SUPERHEROES. You have been warned.

I love watching movies, and I love reading comics, and the fact that they're making movies based on comic books excites me to no end. I am a big fan of the superhero comicdom after all. Although some (enormously large) expectations are somewhat met, some just fail to live up to the comic book.

My all time favourites are Spidey and the X-Men. But not to say I don't like the rest of the characters in comicdom.

I love what Sam Raimi did to Spider-Man sequels (note: ONLY 1 & 2), though I hated the third installment. I followed the development of the production (geek, I know) and I really thought he had something. He's idea was basically, to have someone almost similar given the same choices but chose the wrong path. But what I saw was, a fat Peter Parker attempting to imitate John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever and a whiny Eddie Brock @ Venom. Sandman was pretty cool though.

I hated all the installments of X-Men. Loved the actors, hated the storyline. The premise of it all was awesome, I just thought they could've done it a bit more umph if you get what I mean. I mean we have people with a variety of superpowers here, let's have the most awesome epic-like fight scene here. But did they do it? Nooo, the fight scenes were lame, even the so-called war was just pathetic.

Other disappointments includes, Daredevil (Ben Affleck in tights, need I say more?), Superman Returns (so gay!), the Clooney Batman (the Bat-Visa, 'nuff said), the Hulk (involves too much thinking and feeling , too little slam and bash) and Ghost Rider (had great potential, but a bit too cheeky for my taste). What else I miss? Hmm, cannot think of it now.

This year, there are more movies to look forward to. The Dark Knight for one (the sequel to Batman Begins) is a must see, I saw the trailer and it was just mind blowing, probably the best trailer I've ever seen for a movie. The late Heath Ledger did just for the Joker. Iron Man on the other hand, I have a feeling it's going to be a disappointment. Jon Favreau is not really known to have box office movies but we'll see. The new Incredible Hulk (which btw, is of no association of Ang Lee's version, awesome move if I might say so). I don't know what was wrong with the old Punisher movie (the new movie is a new movie not a sequel, fyi), I kinda liked it though it did stray slightly character wise. Let's hope he has a worthy villain this time. Hellboy II: The Golden Army, I have nothing to comment about, Guillermo Del Toro is just awesome. He's just as sick as Tim Burton but with a little less emo.

I hope for it to be a new Superman movie which does not involve Bryan Singer as the director. I don't really like him as a director at all. Get Sam Raimi to direct please. Or Peter Jackson, would love to see what he can do with a superhero movie. OR the Wachowski Bros. I will pay big money to watch that movie.

Heh, it'd be a crime if I didn't comment eh? After all both of us are now the only comic authority left in Sydney heh heh heh heh.

Your comments on the movies are so so so true. X-mens were good, but they could be better. What the hell was it with pussy Cyclops, clueless Rogue and NO GAMBIT??!

Can't wait for Hellboy, really. Johann Kraus is finally out!

That's not counting Watchmen (can't go wrong with an Alan Moore story, as long as it's not fucked), Iron Man (it might still have a chance), the new Hulk (what the hell was Ang Lee doing with a superhero movie the last time anyway), Wolverine (meh.), Sin City 2, The Spirit...

Man, as the list goes on, the only thing you can be sure of is the list of frustrations will go on too.

Let's brace ourselves hehe.

Hahaha. Comrades!

Well, they did fuck LXG a bit in my opinion, there was missing something. Character and story wise was alright but that was it, it was just alright.

But I totally agree with you man, the frustration is the only thing that we know is for sure.

Sheera, yes and yes. The Gambit dude looks very Gambit-like I'd say. As for Deadpool, it's Ryan Reynolds. I'd prefer him as the Flash though but hey he has the mouth for both of 'em. Let's hope Adam Brody doesn't screw the Flash up too bad. I'm scared he's going to turn the Flash into some geek. Hahaha. Which wouldn't be so bad if you think about it but it's just not right!

i think Flash is my new favourite in the Justice League, he's such a wise-cracking bastard.

yeah that Taylor guy is so much like Gambit. and Deadpool..I dunno how they're gonna pull that off. I mean, in the comics, he's always thinking aloud and breaking the 4th wall, such a comic element. Polar opposite to Wolverine really.
